CELTIC have slashed the number of Rangers tickets for Parkhead in response to their rival’s cutting the Hoops’ Ibrox allocation.
The Gers controversially announced yesterday they would be reducing the tickets for next season’s clashes from 7,000 to less than 900.
The club confirmed the shock change – which follows calls from fans – as it hailed “record” season-book numbers for their 50,817-capacity stadium.
Renewals have reached 44,000 and it’s understood there is also a huge waiting list of fans desperate to back the Steven Gerrard revolution.
A statement read: “Our supporters will always come first and as many of them as practically possible must be accommodated.
“That is why the club has decided on an overall increase in the total number of season tickets available to our supporters to what will be a historical record.
“A further announcement on the final new ticket allocation will shortly be made available on the club’s website.
“An unfortunate consequence of putting our supporters first is that this increased demand negatively impacts on the number of tickets which will be allocated to visiting teams.”

However, on the back of the surprise news from their Glasgow rivals, the Double Treble winners have now responded to their bitter rivals.
And they were only to glad to return the favour for when Rangers head to their 60,411 capacity home.

A Celtic statement read: “An unprecedented Double Treble and historic season for the Club has led to a phenomenal level of demand from supporters to be part of Celtic.
“We are happy to reciprocate in terms of ticket allocation, something which will give us the opportunity to meet this huge demand to visit Celtic Park.”
Celtic traditionally filled the Broomloan Stand, which amounts to around 7,000 tickets.
But now all visiting supporters will be housed “in the corner” between the Broomloan and Sandy Jardine Stands.
