Chapecoense fans targeted by rival supporters with vile chants in wake of tragic plane crash which all-but wiped out club
CHAPECOENSE’S rival supporters have shamefully goaded the stricken club with chants of “fill up the plane.”
Criciuma supporters have caused outrage in Brazil for taunting Chape over the November crash that killed 19 of their players.
According to Goal, one section of the Criciuma support sang “oh, oh, oh fill up the plane’s fuel tank” in Portuguese – and the vile chant was even booed by another section of their OWN fans.
The game was being played in the Santa Catarina State Championship.
Chapecoense president Plinio de Nes Filho said: “They are a bunch of imbeciles, the rivalry exists and we have to let it thrive on the field, not off it.
“It is very regrettable and distasteful in every sense. Half a dozen people who have no sense of brotherhood or respect for life start with these absurd songs.

“The Criciuma directors have to punish this by not allowing these elements in their stadium anymore.”
Portuguese club Porto have also been condemned for a similar situation in recent weeks.
Supporters of the club allegedly sang "How I wish Chapecoense's plane was Benfica's" during a handball game between the two clubs - whose handball teams are affiliated to the football club.
Chape were forced to condemn those chants as well in a bizarre set of tasteless chants since the world sent their support to the stricken team.
