Chapecoense put Colombian flag on new away kit as thank you for support following plane crash which killed 71


CHAPECOENSE will feature a Colombian flag on their away kit in thanks for the country’s support.

The Brazilian outfit’s plane crashed en route to Medellin airport in 2016, killing 71 people.

Chapecoense wanted to pay tribute to the Colombian people

And following an outpouring of love and support from the local population, Chapecoense have made a touching gesture.

Their Umbro-designed away strip has the yellow, blue and red of the Colombian flag sitting proudly across the chest.

According to the sportswear brand, the main white base of the shirt represents the “transmitting of all peace and harmony” while the Colombian colours are just that.

And Chapecoense added: “Passion is what moves football and motivates any overcoming.

Chape have been rebuilding following the disaster and incredibly qualified for the Copa Libertadores.
