Chelsea vs Arsenal: Referee Michael Oliver appointed as Gunners fans see red on social media
ARSENAL fans were furious after Michael Oliver was appointed for their trip to Chelsea.
Arsene Wenger‘s side travel to Stamford Bridge at Sunday lunchtime and will have to deal with a man who’ll be subjected to the usual “12th man” jibes.
Social media was awash with vitriol from some, with other level-headed Gunners fans pointing out the their team would only have themselves to blame for a defeat.
That stats, however, do no bode well for the North London outfit.
Oliver has officiated in 19 Premier League games involving Arsenal – who have won just FOUR of them.
A miserable season saw them miss out on the Champions League last year.
Although it did end on a positive note, with Oliver on the whistle as Arsenal grabbed a 3-1 win against Everton.
But it could have been very different after Oliver gave the Toffees a penalty and sent off Laurent Koscielny.
Oliver was also in charge of two defeats last season: a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and a 2-0 defeat to rivals Spurs at White Hart Lane in late April.
