Colombia plane crash: Sister of Chapecoense air crash victim gets poignant tattoo tribute of her dead brother

THE sister of Chapecoense goalkeeper Danilo who died in the tragic Colombia plane disaster has paid tribute to her brother by getting a tattoo on her back.

Danilo, who was 31, was amongst the 71 people that lost their lives when a plane carrying most of the Chapecoense side ran out of fuel before crashing over Cerro Gordo, La Union.

Danilo survived the crash but later died in hospital and was one of 19 Chapecoense players to lose their lives.

And sister, Daniele Padilha, paid tribute by getting a tattoo of him on her back.

It shows him wearing the No.1 jersey with a halo over his head and she shared it with the caption: “Forever in my history, my memories, my prayers, my thoughts. Forever in my heart, marked on my body.”

He was the hero in the Brazilian side's extraordinary run to the final of Copa Suderamericana when he made a save in the final moments of the game against San Lorenzo in the semi-final.

On Monday, it was confirmed that Chapecoense would be crowned Copa Suderamericana champions after their opponents Atletico Nacional asked if the title could be handed to the team in their honour.

As a result the club will receive around £1.6million for being crowned champions, £790,000 for Recopa – Conmebol’s version of the European Super Cup, and £1.4m for being in the Group Stage of next year’s Libertadores.
