Conor McGregor has Madame Tussauds waxwork unveiled as Irish UFC legend eyes Floyd Mayweather rematch in the octagon

CONOR McGREGOR has seen himself immortalised by Madame Tussauds, as the waxwork museum unveiled their attempt to capture the essence of “Notorious”.

The replica was proudly shown-off in the Blackpool museum as the Irish ace, 29, eyes a potential rematch, this time in MMA, with Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

McGregor and “Money” squared off in the boxing ring in August last year, as the American boxer took the fight thanks to a tenth-round stoppage in Las Vegas.

The win took Mayweather’s career record to 50-0 with the pair now suggested a bout in octagon could on the cards.

The sensational rematch would be worth around £360million, according to reports.

Last year, ahead of the Las Vegas mega-fight, Ireland’s National Wax Museum unveiled their own attempt to capture the McGregor’s likeness.

However, it was widely slated on social media, with one Twitter user claimed: “It’s hilariously bad.”

Ed Coleman, the Wax Museum’s General Manager, hit back, saying: “Everybody who was there was very impressed with it.

“In fact we took it outside at one point for a photo opportunity and a couple of tourists walked by and I said ‘Do you know who this is?’

“And they said: ‘It’s the fighter guy’. So everybody knew who it was anyway and it went down well.”

He added: “This is the nature of the beast with social media. We take that in our stride, we know we’re not going to please everybody.

“I think we could take a picture of the actual Conor McGregor and put it up as the new waxwork and we’d still get criticism for it not looking as good.

“We’re not Madame Tussauds; they have teams of dozens of people working on every waxwork.

“We’ve got one sculptor – that’s PJ – and one make up artist – that’s Susan – to do all of them.”
