Conor McGregor trolls WWE superstars and gets predictable response

CONOR McGregor has taken a pop at the stars of the WWE, and a host of pro wrestling’s biggest names have fired back.

McGregor took aim at the stars of the squared circle during the recent UFC 202 media conference call ahead of his big-money rematch with Nate Diaz.

And the Dubliner pulled no punches in his assessment of the WWE’s superstars.

“For the most part those WWE guys are p*****s,” he said.

“To be honest, they’re messed up p*****s if you ask me.”

Shots fired: McGregor took a pop at Brock Lesnar and his WWE colleagues

WWE star Brock Lesnar is a former UFC heavyweight champion and recently returned to the Octagon at UFC 200.

But the hulking heavyweight failed TWO USADA drug tests around that event, attracting widespread criticism as the WWE opted not to punish their big pay-per-view star.

McGregor also had words for Lesnar, saying: “Fair play to Brock, he got in there and fought.

“But at the end of the day he was juiced up to the f*****g eyeballs, so how can I respect that?”

And while he didn’t mention him by name, McGregor also referred to former WWE star CM Punk, who is set to make his Octagon debut at UFC 203 in September.

“The other guy, he hasn’t fought yet, so I don’t know about him yet.”

The Irishman continued: “There’s some dons in that wrestling game.

“The McMahons, they’re dons. Triple H is a don, The Rock is a don.

“But the rest of them are p*****s, man.

“That’s a little bit more showbusiness. This is the fight business.”

McGregor later doubled down on his comments when he tweeted: “I didn’t mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans.

“What I meant to say was that I’d slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sunday’s [sic].”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, a few big names associated with the WWE took McGregor’s bait and replied.

Former Olympic gold medallist-turned-pro wrestling star Kurt Angle (776k followers) tweeted: “@TheNotoriousMMA @WWE very funny little guy. Why don’t you take your head out of Dana White’s a**.”

And former WWE champion Roman Reigns (1.94 million followers) also responded, tweeting: “Your [sic] the size of my leg. Shut up.”

Current WWE women’s champion Sasha Banks also chimed in with a simple challenge.

And she wasn’t alone, as WWE stars past and present, as well as SmackDown Live commentator – and MMA broadcasting icon – Mauro Ranallo also weighed in.
