Former Leeds and Chelsea striker Hasselbaink is looking for work after being axed by QPR in November, and he will speak to the Coventry owners this week to see what they have in mind.

The young boss cut his teeth very successfully at a lower level with Burton Albion, and is willing to drop down to the third tier to get his career going again.

However, Coventry‘s unpopular owners will have to prove they have a long-term plan as he is disillusioned by his experiences at QPR.

The 44-year-old was appointed in December last year but won only 13 of his 47 matches in charge at Loftus Road.

Earlier this year, Hasselbaink was filmed as part of a Daily Telegraph investigation alleging corruption in football, apparently negotiating a fee to travel to Singapore to speak to a fake Far East firm.

QPR stood by him, saying a lack of evidence from the newspaper ended their investigation.

And last month it was revealed he wanted to demolish his Surrey mansion and rebuild one with a trophy room — despite only ever winning ONE gong.
