Crystal Palace ace James McArthur wanted by Cardiff to help boost Premier League survival hopes

JAMES McARTHUR has emerged as a top target for newly-promoted Cardiff City.

The experienced and combative Crystal Palace utility man is just the sort of player Bluebirds’ boss Neil Warnock thinks can keep them in the top flight.

The Daily Mail says McArthur, 30, has been a key figure in Palace’s successful battle to stay in the Premier League this season.

Warnock knows him well.

For the former Palace boss signed McArthur from Wigan in 2014 and has always admired the Scottish international.

But Cardiff could find themselves in competition with both Aston Villa and Rangers for a player who plays predominantly as a central midfielder but who can also play in a deeper midfield role, too.

With over 200 Premier League appearances under his belt at Wigan and Palace, McArthur provides the sort of reassurance all three suitors are in need of.

McArthur, who has 32 international caps, started his career at Hamilton Academical and went on to play 192 games for the Scottish side.
