THIS is cycling star Oscar Sevilla in a hospital bed after he was attacked by five thieves and robbed of his £10,000 bike while training in Bogota, Colombia.
The 41-year-old was left with a broken wrist which he is set to have surgery on.
Sevilla was pounced on during a ride on Sunday morning with his helmet and glasses also being snatched in the blitz attack.
He has been based in Colombia since 2008 and rides for the Team Medellin cycling team.
The rider’s wife Ivone told the Caracol radio station: “This morning Oscar went out to train like every morning, at around 6am, in Bogota.
“Five young people assaulted him, pushed him, beat him up. A taxi was waiting on the corner and they took his bike.
“He’s very down about it because that type of fracture takes a while to recover and he was due to travel to Spain to race.
“He’s very disappointed because this is what we see on a daily bases in Bogota.

“There are lots of robberies, lots of insecurity for cyclists.
“Every day bicycles are stolen, so he can’t go out and train at ease because at any moment they can hurt you or take your life, for a bike.”

The robbers did not manage to snatch Sevilla’s phone so he was able to call his wife and a caring passer-by drove the shaken bike ace to hospital.
The crime-plagued city’s mayor spoke out about the surge in robberies, Enrique Penalosa wrote on Twitter: “The attack on Oscar Sevilla is a great shame.
“We need big sentences from the judges for bicycle thieves.”
