David Haye slammed for ‘Oreo Cookie’ comparison and commenting on treatment by police just a day after Dallas shootings

DAVID Haye has been blasted after he compared a photo of him and Anthony Joshua posing with a white female police officer to an ‘Oreo Cookie’.

Sharing the snap on his Facebook page of him at Wimbledon, the boxer has also been criticised for making a joke about treatment by police only days after five officers were shot dead in Dallas.

Posting on the social media site, the former two-weight world champion wrote: “It’s Oreo Cookie time at Wimbledon with Anthony Joshua and Metropolitan Police’s finest.

“They sure do treat us brothers in the UK a lot better than they do in the USA! This lovely officer was literally squealing with excitement, nothing but love from our UK cops.

“This tactile police lady actually offered to give me and AJ a full body massage, I’ve never got that kinda love in the States!”

The term “Oreo” is seen by many as a racial slur in the US, used to describe people who are black but act white.

Haye appears to have been referring to the fact that the white officer was in between two black men. An Oreo is a biscuit with two chocolate wafers either side of a cream filling.

Paul Dolling wrote: “Disgusting, nothing more than basic racism. If something was said by a white person, all tell would be breaking loose.”

And Jay Daniels added: “Poor joke, especially with all the race and police issues around the world.

“I realise that it wasn’t meant to offend but I think a moment’s thought before posting this would have been the sensible option.”

And comparing how the UK police treat people compared to their US counterparts was also slammed as tasteless, only a day after the murders of five police officers in Dallas.

Kevin Jones wrote:  “I just read this and it’s disgusting! Haye has no right to say s*** about American police,” with Dean Mercer adding that Haye has “no feeling or compassion”.

On Friday five officers were killed and several more injured after gun fire broke out at gathering in Dallas, protesting the killing of two black men in separate incidents in Minnesota and Louisiana that week.

Micah Xavier Johnson is believed to be responsible for gunning down the officers after he told police he ‘wanted to shoot cops’.
