Dele Alli to be included in England squad by Gareth Southgate but may still be banned over one-fingered gesture

TOTTENHAM midfielder Dele Alli will make the latest England training squad even though he faces a lengthy international ban.

Alli could miss up to four matches following his middle-finger gesture at Wembley during the World Cup qualifier win over Slovakia.

Fifa has started a disciplinary hearing and the 21-year-old should learn of his fate at the weekend.

England boss Gareth Southgate, though, seems to think Alli will get a one-match ban and, furthermore, remain hopeful he could even be cleared by the investigation.

Given that England are preparing on Friday to name Alli for next week’s qualifiers with Slovenia and Lithuania indicates they believe Fifa will indeed be lenient.

The FA have sent evidence to FIFA — including submissions from both Alli and his England colleague and former Spurs team-mate Kyle Walker.

They suggest is the gesture was a joke between the pair and not aimed at either the referee or a Slovakian player.

England are confident video footage proves Alli was looking downfield at Walker when he did it.

This could still get him a ban but would not mean a lengthy suspension that could potentially rule him out of England’s last two qualifiers.

Not to mention two-thirds of the group campaign at next summer’s World Cup.

Hopefully, Alli could only miss the game with Slovenia at Wembley next Thursday when a win will secure the Three Lions' place for Russia 2018.
