DIEGO COSTA helped the Spain squad crack a smile for their pre-World Cup squad photo.

The former Chelsea striker cracked jokes with his Roja team-mates as beamed for a tournament snap.

Costa goofed around with the likes of Lucas Vazquez and Thiago Alcantara at La Rozas de Madrid Sports City as they lined up for the photographer.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have been training near the Spanish capital before jetting out to Russia, where they will face local rivals Portugal in Group B on the second day of the tournament.

It promises to be the first mouthwatering clash of Russia 2018 with Cristiano Ronaldo up against many of his Real Madrid club mates.

Keeper De Gea made an unlikely blunder in their Switzerland friendly draw on Sunday, as he gifted Ricardo Rodriguez a goal.

But Lopetegui will not drop the Manchester United star.

He said: “De Gea’s mistake? David knows that I know he’ll carry us through many games, no doubt about it.”
