Djokovic becomes tennis’ first $100million man with victory over Roberto Bautista Agut at Roland Garros

NOVAK DJOKOVIC is tennis’s first 100 million dollar man after his fourth-round victory over Roberto Bautista Agut.

But the nervy win moved him closer to something beyond price: his first French Open title.

Djokovic, never one to miss a chance for a crowd-pleasing photo opportunity, donned a rain-hat for his on-court interview after the 3-6 6-4 6-1 7-5 triumph.

And the way the world No1 recovered from going a set down while battling his demons and the difficult conditions suggests this could be the year it stops raining on him at Roland Garros.

Djokovic and Bautista Agut resumed after yesterday’s watery farce with the Serb leading 4-1 in the third set.

He quickly closed that one out, but the nerves returned in the fourth.

The Spaniard broke for a 4-2 lead and even after Djokovic hit back immediately, he endured some more testing moments.

The prize money for reaching the quarter finals will make him the first player in the sport’s history to break the $100m dollar barrier.

But Djokovic is much more interested in making history by becoming only the eighth player to win all four Grand Slams and only the second man, after the great Rod Laver, to hold the four titles simultaneously.

There will be more drama to come.

But having survived the day when leading women Simona Halep and Agnieszka Radwanska saw their hopes drown, Djokovic will be more confident of posing for a money shot after the final.
