Dustin Johnson showed off stunning blonde birdie Paulina Gretzky after his epic US Open win at Oakmont

DUSTIN JOHNSON hit the shot of his life to seal the US Open with a birdie – but it was the other one on his arm who got the attention at Oakmont.

The first-time Major winner is engaged to Paulina Gretzky, daughter of ice hockey legend Wayne.

And she was at the 18th green to see her fiance’s greatest moment on Sunday night.

The big-hitting American overcame USGA’s ridiculous rules intervention on the 12th tee to seal a three-shot victory over three players including Ireland’s Shane Lowry.

He can slam dunk a basketball and was called “the most talented athlete I have ever seen” by 2010 US Open champ Graeme McDowell.

Two-time Major winner Jordan Spieth said he is a “freak athlete” and “arguably the most talented player on the PGA Tour”.

It is those attributes, Paulina says, that make her iconic dad idolise her fiance.

She said: “My dad loves what Dustin does because he admires it. He sees, and he loves going out there and playing golf.

“Dustin is, in a weird way, an idol to him. He just loves what Dustin can do. Dustin is a phenomenon, he really is. This is just the beginning.”

Meanwhile, the USGA have admitted they were wrong to tell Johnson that he could be penalised for causing his ball to move on the fifth green.

A statement read: “Upon reflection, we regret the distraction caused by our decision to wait until the end of the round to decide on the ruling.

“While our focus on getting the ruling correct was appropriate, we created uncertainty about where players stood on the leaderboard after we informed Dustin on the 12th tee that his actions on the fifth green might lead to a penalty.

“This created unnecessary ambiguity for Dustin and the other players.”
