Eddie Jones blasts Bath owner Bruce Craig as the ‘Donald Trump of rugby’

EDDIE JONES blasted Bath owner Bruce Craig as the “Donald Trump of rugby” as their war of words hotted up.

Craig first hit out at the “totally unacceptable” amount of injuries suffered in the Red Rose camp after Beno Obano was ruled out for up to a YEAR with a knee and hamstring problem.

The Premiership have since said they will investigate the crisis at a high-level meeting next month, but that hasn’t stopped millionaire Craig since slamming Jones as “cynical”.

After landing in Durban today Jones has came out fighting again as he defended his methods ahead of the Three Test tour against South Africa.

The Aussie boss said: “Bruce Craig sounds like the Donald Trump of rugby. He has the same hairstyle, hasn’t he?

“Bruce is absolutely obsessed by intensity, Bruce is the intensity king of the world. We train appropriately for Test match rugby. It seems like whatever Bruce says, goes.

“Who knows, maybe he’ll be the CEO of the RFU soon. It’s not my job to peak to club owners, it’s my job to coach the national team and if he’s such an expert on training preparation then possibly he should start coaching.

“We’ve got an owner who thinks he knows everything about rugby. Really, I wish I knew that much. If I knew that much I’d probably have much money as him. Unfortunately I don’t, so I’ll just stick to rugby.

“Maybe he wants to coach Bath, who knows? Maybe he wants to coach the Sharks in Durban. I don’t really care what he says, it doesn’t affect what I do with the team.

“The players know that the training we do, we do for them to get better. We want to be the best team in the world and we train to get better.

“Everything we do I about training to get better, it’s not about satisfying some bloke who has got plenty of money in Bath and thinks he knows everything about rugby. I find it all a bit tedious.”

England’s players headed for the pool after their 10 hour flight to Johannesburg and then down to Durban.

Tomorrow they will ramp up the action as they get ready to face the Springboks in Johannesburg on Saturday.

And Jones added: “We’ll have good preparation for week one. We’ve got a good week planned. I’ve done Tests in Jo’Burg before, it’s always a difficult place to win so you need your preparation to be spot on. You have to be physically and mentally ready to go.”
