England coach Eddie Jones fires back at Bath owner Bruce Craig over criticism his methods are injuring players

EDDIE JONES fired back at Bath owner Bruce Craig after a spate of training-ground injuries telling him: You have no RIGHT to question me.

Jones has come under fire after Bath owner Beno Obano was ruled out for a year after damaging his knee and hamstring in the Red Rose camp.

That prompted furious Craig to say: “The level of injuries in these training camps is totally unacceptable. What is going on in the camp?

“There is obviously an issue because of the number of injuries. There has got to be significant questions asked about duty of care.

“At Bath, we’re not having cruciate ligament injuries in training. I am unsure of whether the players are not being taken to levels that are unacceptable.”

But firing back following more criticism as Ben Te’o was ruled out of the tour to South Africa, Jones said: “We prepare players for Test matches. I don’t think anyone at a club has the right to tell a coach how to train a Test team.”

Steadfast Jones also insisted that there would be no way he would reign in his methods.

And added: “I don’t have any concerns. We train appropriately for Test match rugby.

“The only reason I’d alter it is if we need to train harder, or we need to train lighter, to be at our best for Test matches.

“I haven’t seen any figures to suggest they are [unacceptable], no-one in our staff has suggested they are, but Bruce is obviously an expert in training-ground injuries, so I’ll have to be subservient to his greater knowledge.”
