England crash to nine-wicket defeat to Pakistan after morning collapse at Lord’s


ENGLAND’S crashed to defeat in the First Test against Pakistan after another shocking batting collapse.

Joe Root’s side had resumed play on 235-6 with Jos Butler and Dom Bes both unbeaten on half centuries.

But any hope of mounting a rearguard action which would at least put some pressure on the tourists ended when Pakistan whittled through England’s tail order in devastating fashion.

England lost their last four wickets for six runs in 18 balls as they were skittled all out for 242 – setting Pakistan a target of just 64 for victory.

And they made easy work of chasing the runs down for the loss of just won wicket as they ended the match half and hour before lunch.
