ENGLAND’S cricketers were clearly inspired by Gareth Bale’s audacious attempt in the Champions League final as they tried to replicate it in training today.
Bale scored his sensational overhead kick on one of sport’s biggest stage as he beat Loris Karius for what proved to be the winner.
The England squad were in training today but weren’t quite able to pull off the same heroics as Bale.
Pakistan thrashed England by nine wickets in the first Test at Lord’s, completing the victory 90 minutes into Day 4.
The second Test starts on Friday at Headlingley and Joe Root will be hoping his side can inject a bit more flair and class into their game as Bale did.
But it was class that was desperately lacking in their performance at Lord’s, as they slumped to 184 and 242 all out.

Meanwhile Bale could be on his way to Manchester United after issuing a come-and-get-me plea immediately after full time on Saturday.
