EDDIE JONES could face an injury headache over Maro Itoje – who has a headache of his own.

The Saracens and England flanker suffered a blow to the head in a collision with Mike Brown during his club’s narrow defeat to Harlequins on Sunday.

And after lengthy treatment, the 23-year-old was taken to hospital for x-rays on the injury.

According to the Mail, he could miss England’s first Six Nations encounter with Italy, when the Red Rose get their campaign underway in Rome on February 4, if the verdict is a fractured cheekbone.

They then welcome Wales to Twickenham on February 10 as England will look for their first real test of the 2018 competition.

Itoje had not even lost a test match in an England jersey until Ireland stunned Jones’ defending champions with a 13-9 win in Dublin during this year’s Six Nations.

Sarries are anxiously awaiting results of the scan, given they have lost the last five games in all competitions, following their defeat at the Stoop.

Itoje went to hospital, but the double European champions are yet to announce the results of the scan.

Director of rugby Mark McCall said: “Maro has gone to hospital with a facial injury so we’ll get an update in the next 24 hours.

“They’re going to find out if it is structural.”
