KEATON JENNINGS was meant to be in an accountancy exam yesterday instead of preparing for his England return.
Jennings becomes Alastair Cook’s opening partner again tomorrow less than ten months after being dumped.
The Lancashire left-hander, who has three centuries this month, replaces out-of-form Mark Stoneman.
Jennings, 25, revealed: “I’m doing an accountancy degree and have five modules left, which seem to be taking forever to complete.
“I’ve had to miss a couple of exams because of cricket and I’ve not been able to put in the work I wanted.
“It’s always a huge honour to pull on these colours and I hope I can make an impact.”

Jennings scored a century on his debut but his average plummeted to 24.50 when dropped last summer after six Tests.
And as a budding accountant, he knows he needs better numbers than that.

He added: “Opening is one of the toughest jobs in Test cricket, especially in England. The new ball is crucial and that’s what makes Cooky’s achievements so extraordinary.
“Test cricket is an amazing place, an eye-opening place and I suppose you learn a lot about yourself when you get thrown in.”
ALEX HALES is preferred to Dawid Malan for England’s five one-dayers against Australia next month.
The 14-man squad also includes skipper Eoin Morgan, who expects to have recovered from a broken finger.
