Everton 1 Manchester United 1: Five things we learnt as Jose Mourinho sees first win in four slip away after Marouane Fellaini gives away late penalty

MANCHESTER UNITED have now failed to win their last four Premier League matches after Leighton Baines scores a last-gasp penalty to save the Toffees a point.

Here SunSport runs the rule over the match and five things that we have learnt from 1-1 draw victory at Goodison Park.

OH STECK

Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is not good enough for a team challenging to break into the top four.

The Dutch stopper would be a decent second keeper and with Ronald Koeman wanting to bring in Joe Hart in the summer it proves he does want a stronger No 1.

Steklenburg will now be worrying about the looming January transfer window as Koeman wants to majorly overhaul his squad.

With another costly error from his keeper, the former Southampton boss will be looking at bringing in someone else to fit between the sticks for Everton.

GOODISON PARKED

Manchester United could not build on their previous 15 wins at Goodison Park in the Premier League - where they have won more Premier League games than at any other ground.

The Red Devils enjoy playing in the blue half of Merseyside but Marouane Fellaini's blunder to give away a penalty stopped it being number 16.

Baines fired home the penalty to rub salt in to the wounds of his former team-mate,  who had come on as a sub to shore things up, but his costly error leaves United languishing in sixth place.

UNPUNISHED

Marcos Rojo should have seen red for his two-footed lunge on Everton's Idrissa Gueye but the Man United defender escaped with just a yellow card.

In fact the tackle looked worse that Sergio Aguero's knee chop on David Luiz, although thankfully Gueye was straight back on his feet.

Had Gueye made more of a meal of the challenge then perhaps Rojo would have seen red, but the Everton players was too honest.

Had Rojo taken an early bath, the game may have been totally different and the result even worse for Jose Mourinho - who has been linked with numerous defensive reinforcements in January.

AGEING IBRA?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic looked like age was catching up with him earlier this season after he went six games without a goal.

But now the Swede has netted his fourth in three games to show he isn't quite finished yet.

The 35-year-old, who has won titles at every club he has played for, will be concerned that marvellous record will stop at Manchester United.

The team are over-reliant on his goals, with Ibra already on eight and the rest of the squad combining for just eight.

SLIPPING AWAY

Manchester United are now 13 points behind Chelsea and seemingly have no chance of winning the Premier League, in what has been a disastrous start to life under Mourinho.

A top four finish even seems unlikely now, as they sit nine points behind Manchester City.

A return to Champions League football was the priority for Mourinho, although he did suggest his side would challenge for the title, and after the first few games it looked like they would be run away contenders with City.

But the Portuguese gaffer continues to struggle with no solution in sight.
