EVERTON face a costly battle to land Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca, testing owner Farhad Moshiri’s wealth.

The Toffees are looking at the Portuguese coach as they consider Sam Allardyce’s future.

But sources say Shakhtar will offer Fonseca up to £8million-a-year to stay in the Ukraine.

Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti are also in the running for the Goodison job, but would demand huge salaries.

So axing Allardyce will be an expensive exercise for Everton, whoever takes his place.

The former England boss succeeded Ronald Koeman in Merseyside after the Dutchman was sacked in October.
