The Goodison Park club have been struggling up front and are said to see Vardy, 31, as the solution to their goalscoring problems.

Vardy was instrumental in the Foxes’ shock 2016 Premier League win and earned himself a new £100,000-a-week deal at the King Power Stadium.

But Everton reportedly are confident their director of football Steve Walsh — who brought Vardy to Leicester for £1million in 2012 — can convince the attacker to switch clubs.

They would also be able to give the England international a pay rise to put him with top earners such as Wayne Rooney on £150,000-a-week.

Vardy has struck 15 times in 35 appearances this season and the Toffees would welcome his goalscoring exploits.

The Toffees have struggled to replace Romelu Lukaku since his £75million summer move to Manchester United.

TOSUN GONE Everton flop Tosun could make Besiktas return in summer after failing to make an impact at Goodison Park

They bought Cenk Tosun in January but he has failed to impress with reports suggesting he wants to move back to Besiktas.

Tosun, 26, cost Everton £27million when he left Turkey in January, signing a four-and-a-half year deal in the process.
