Everton line up move for Besiktas star Oguzhan Ozyakup should they fail to sign Arsenal ace Jack Wilshere

EVERTON are reportedly lining up a move to bring former Arsenal midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup to Goodison Park should they fail to sign Jack Wilshere.

The Turkish international is currently plying his trade with Besiktas, but like the Gunners star, is set to become a free agent in the summer.

According to Turkish-Football.com, the Toffees will turn their attention to the 25-year-old should Wilshere reject a move to Sam Allardyce’s side.

The report stated that Everton scouts have been monitoring his progress at Vodafone Park, with inquiries sent to Besiktas.

Ozyakup featured just twice under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates, with both appearances coming in the League Cup before he was shipped off to Besiktas for just £400,000 in 2012.

But since moving to Turkey, Ozyakup has established himself as one of the top players in the Super Lig, helping the Black Eagles claim back-to-back league titles.

Arsenal have been consistently linked with a move to bring their former youth prodigy back to North London, with reports claiming the FA Cup holders have offered him a pre-contract.

Wilshere is reportedly waiting for Arsenal to hand him an improved contract, with his heart still set on staying with Wenger’s men.

This will leave Ozyakup as the perfect alternative, with the Dutch-born playmaker believed to be seeking a new challenge.

Everton were linked with the ex-AZ youth starlet in November, but failed to lure him to England in the winter transfer market.
