EVERTON are looking to swoop on Danny Rose – and take advantage of big clubs cooling interest.
The Tottenham full-back is likely to leave this summer with Manchester United holding a long-term interest in signing him.
But though they have been monitoring his situation for the past year, United look to have made Juventus’ Alex Sandro their number one left-back target.
Local rivals Manchester City have also previously looked at Rose, but are happy with Fabian Delph as back-up to Benjamin Mendy next season.
That means the England defender is suddenly in a position where he may find it difficult to secure a move to another Champions League qualified club.
And the biggest interest could ultimately come from Everton – who are set to embark on a major overhaul of their squad this summer.
Rose, 27, is still wanted at Goodison Park as they look at long-term options to replace Leighton Baines.
Baines, 33, has been a regular for over a decade but has interest from America and the club are aware he will eventually need replacing.

That could well be over the course of the close season as owner Farhad Moshiri looks to make a big investment on improving the squad at the Merseyside club.
With Sam Allardyce sacked at the end of the season, Moshiri is looking at bringing in a manager to build a squad capable of challenging for the top six in the Premier League.

Former Watford boss Marco Silva is the man in the frame to get the role, though Moshiri is taking his time before making a final decision.
Rose struggled with injury last season and was not a regular in the Tottenham side, with Ben Davies making it difficult for him to regain his position when he returned to fitness.
But he did enough to make the England squad for the World Cup, and has a good chance of starting as first choice in Gareth Southgate’s side.
And Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will make it hard for rival Premier League clubs to sign him, valuing the full-back at a minimum of £40million.
