The Premier League all-time top goalscorer, with 260 strikes, was presented with the honour by FA President Wills.
The Match of the Day pundit wrote on Twitter: “Very honoured and proud to receive my CBE today in recognition of my charity work.
“Thank you to everyone who supports me.”
