Ex-Tottenham and Crystal Palace striker is set to join Ligue 1 club Lyon as he arrived in France to complete a deal

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has arrived in Lyon to talk over a potential deal with the Ligue 1 club this season.

Adebayor, 32, has been left without contract with Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

The Togolese only scored once in nine Premier League appearances last term and was again a huge disappointment.

However, the striker has now arrived in Lyon, France, in the hope to seal a deal to play Ligue 1 football this season.

Lyon’s manager Bruno Genesio said: “He has arrived, I will meet up with him.

“We will see after what happens. I have a lot of question to ask him, I want to know his motivations and how it went for him at Crystal Palace.

“I want to have together an idea of the player and the man.”

It looks positive for Adebayor but nothing looks too enthusiastic when Genesio was asked about the Togolese profile.

He said: “He is the same than Jean-Philippe Mateta, except that he [Adebayor] has more experience, and we should perhaps not stack them.”

Adebayor received certain guarantees such as a salary agreement and contract duration before travelling to Lyon, but he will not have a medical on Friday (Sept 16).
