THE Football Association have offered to provide social media updates on Baldock Town’s next FA Cup match – after the non-league club’s Twitter correspondent had to stop updates after going on as sub.
The hilarious incident occurred during their preliminary round clash against North Greenford United.
Followers of the @BaldockTownFC account were left on a knife-edge as the Spartan South Midlands League outfit sealed a memorable comeback.
Having trailed by a goal at the break, Town launched a second half rally to take a 3-1 lead.
But with just ten minutes of the clash remaining the constant updates suddenly stopped.
Supporters unable to attend the match were left wondering what had happened as they desperately waited to see if their heroes had made the next round.
However, the club revealed the reason for the lack of communication in the closing stages in a tweet on Monday – and it soon went viral as football fans revelled in their explanation.
Baldock wrote: “Sorry for the lack of updates during the last 10 mins yesterday. Our Twitter correspondant had to go on as sub.” (sic)
