THE FA will give the green light to implement a mid-season Premier League break within two weeks, according to reports.
The governing body’s chief executive Martin Glenn has admitted it will go ahead with plans “very soon”.
But Sky Sports claim the move will be ratified within a fortnight.
The FA, Premier League and EFL have been locked in talks over the proposal as they look to bring the English football calendar in line with the top leagues in Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
The break for Prem teams is expected to be staggered over two weekends, with 10 teams playing one weekend and the other 10 the one following.
That would give each club a fortnight’s rest from competition – but ensure fans are not left without any football.
In a statement released on The FA website, Glenn said: “We’ve (been) working closer and more collaboratively with the professional game than at any time in recent years.
“Very soon this will pay dividends with the creation of a mid-season break.”

He also added the winter break, which is likely to be introduced during the 2019-20 campaign, was a “much needed improvement” for clubs and the England team.
Sky Sports report the full details of the winter break are expected to be confirmed within 14 days.

The debate over a break have long-been mooted with a number of overseas coaches arguing that the schedule is too taxing on players.
It has been claimed that the lack of a mid-season rest has proved detrimental to the Prem’s biggest stars and leaves them exhausted for international tournaments played throughout the summer months.
