FIFA 18: Dele Alli, Alexandre Lacazette, Rio Ferdinand and host of other stars play at launch party

DELE ALLI proved he is just as good at FIFA as he is at playing football for real as he showcased his gaming skills at the official launch party.

Taking place in Shoreditch in London, footballers, musicians and TV stars came together in celebration of the expected release of the world’s greatest football computer game.

Set to hit the shelves on September 29, Alli was joined by Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, rap star Wretch 32 and singer Olly Murs for some gaming action.

Also making an appearance was ex-Manchester United man Rio Ferdinand, just days after the shock announcement he was to take up boxing.

Other footballers to turn up to show their support included West Ham’s Michail Antonio, Manchester United’s Ashley Young, Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Hull’s David Meyler.

Alli teamed up with Murs to control Tottenham, taking on Lacazette and Wretch 32 who were obviously playing as Arsenal.

And it was Alli who got one over his fellow pro as he helped Spurs win easily, 4-0.

As always, players can look forward to the usual minor upgrade in graphics and gameplay… but this year there is nothing major on that front.

That is mostly because the current edition was the first under the new Frostbite game engine.

One major boost will be the ‘dynamic weather’ feature, which essentially means that rather than playing in 90 minutes of pounding rain or blistering sunshine, the weather will change throughout.

While not only set to look spectacular, it will also mean you will need to change playing tactics and maybe even personnel quickly, or fall behind…

An EA spokesperson said: “It’s not only a pretty effect, it actually changes the way you play the game.”

FIFA 18 will cost around £49.99 – but given the demand, some outlets may undercut this.

SunSport expects the cheapest the game will go for at launch to be around £45.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the cover star of FIFA 18.

The move marks a stunning turnaround from EA Sports as the Real Madrid star’s great rival Lionel Messi was on the cover from 2013 to 2016.

Dortmund’s Marco Reus was on the cover in 2017 but it appears EA have opted for a higher profile figure this year.
