FIFA are continuing their tough stance on political remembrance by taking action against the Republic of Ireland for commemorating the centenary of the Easter Rising.
Players from the Republic wore shirts with the years 1916-2016 under their crest against Switzerland in a friendly back in March.
The Easter Rising was an Irish rebellion against British rule, which lasted five days from April 24th to 29th 2016 and resulted in 485 people losing their lives.
As reported by BBC SPORT Fifa have confirmed that the process to take action has proceeded but have declined to comment any further on the issue, along with the Football Association of Ireland.
This comes amid the discussions taking place with the English and Scottish FA’s over the two national sides wearing the poppy for Armistice Day.
