DAVIDE ASTORI did not die of a slowed heart rate as was originally reported, it is being claimed in Italy.
The Fiorentina captain tragically passed away at the age of 31 the night before a match against Udinese and was found in his hotel room on the morning of March 4.
But, according to Corriere della Sera, an autopsy is now suggesting he died from tachycardia, which is where the heart rate accelerates beyond the normal rate.
Originally, it had been claimed Astori had died in his sleep from bradycardia, which is where the heart rate slows down to the point it stops.
Tragically, the article reports this new diagnosis suggests he “would have woken up” and “could have been saved had someone been in his hotel room to alert the medical staff.”
Udine prosecutor Antonio Di Nicolo explained: “I can’t anticipate anything.
