Five former England cricket stars face questioning from anti-corruption bosses following The Sun’s match-fixing probe

FIVE former England cricketers face questioning from anti-corruption bosses over The Sun’s match-fixing probe.

They were named by Indian Sobers Joban, a fixer for bookmakers, who boasted he could fix the third Ashes Test in Perth.

The ex-international stars are likely to be interviewed as part of the International Cricket Council’s investigation into The Sun’s revelations.

Its anti-corruption unit has revealed material in our dossier tallies with their own investigations.

The ICC will also send investigators to Australia, India, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to interview players and witnesses.

It is expected any UK interviews would be carried out by the England and Wales Cricket board on behalf of the ICC.

The Sun told last week how Joban and bookie Priyank Saxena asked undercover reporters for up to £140,000 for spot fix information on more than a specified number of runs scored in a period of overs.

They claimed an Australian fixer known as The Silent Man was in contact with players to arrange fixes on the third Test, which ends today.

ICC anti-corruption boss Alex Marshall said: “I’m very grateful to The Sun for providing this information.”
