FLOYD MAYWEATHER says he took it easy on Conor McGregor because he was scared of giving his opponent brain damage.
The legendary boxer ensured he ended his career undefeated after he stopped a brave and gutsy McGregor in the 10th round.
Referee Robert Byrd intervened after Mayweather rained down blows on the Notorious that he wobbled from, but didn’t go down.
And speaking on the Hollywood Unblocked podcast, Mayweather has revealed he did not want to seriously hurt his opponent.
He said: “He has a career. You know, he still has a career. He’s still young.
“It could’ve been very damaging. We have to think about these fighters.
“Even, like, my uncle Roger. Right now, I just got a call just before I came here. He keeps walking off, wandering off. No one can find him. He ends up in a hospital.
“So, brain damage – it happens. It happens.”

The American, 40, posed between the pieces, which appear to be a single image split in two.
Mayweather flexed his guns as if on the scales on the weigh-in, while Irishman McGregor looks at him with both fighters stood in front of their national flags.
The work was produced by Tiffanie Anderson - who goes by 'The Pretty Artist' on Twitter.
It is not the first time that she has worked for 'Money Man', having produced one of of him in action during his victory over Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
