Ranieri, who led Leicester to an incredible Premier League triumph two years ago, only took charge of Nantes last June.

He has guided them to 10th in the top-flight despite a small budget but his relationship with club chief Waldemar Kita has resulted in his exit.

The duo have had a several fall-outs throughout the campaign.

That culminated in Ranieri allegedly failing to appear at the end of season dinner as he could not find a car park space.

Kita has also been publicly critical of the ex-Chelsea man’s team selections and tactics.

That led to Ranieri challenging the millionaire to fire him if he was not happy.

Kita has now done just that but insisted the decision was nothing personal.

He said: “We can’t hide anything. We had a meeting with the sponsors, he thanked everyone.

“He has to be thanked for all the work he has done.

“It has not always been easy, there are regrets, but this is life and there is no anger.”

It is the second time since Ranieri achieved the impossible with Leicester that the experienced coach has been axed.
