But the game will be remembered for a series of penalties and advantages in the second half that eventually helped the home side over the line.

Samson Lee was yellow carded by ref Wayne Barnes after 80 minutes was up.

Butfans could not believe their eyes when he was bizarrely allowed BACK in to the field as the 10-minute sin bin elapsed.

The Stade de France crowd tried to put the full-back’s radar off, but Halfpenny appears to be back in his best kicking form since being injured before the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The hosts did well from a sin bin in the first half.

Virimi Vakatawa was given 10 minutes off the pitch after being shown yellow for a knock on with George North a yard from the try line.

But perhaps the Welsh were lucky not to have had a sin bin themselves after Scott Williams appeared to do the same the other end.

Les Bleus scored a nice try in the opening ten minutes after the Dragons had a mix up in their own try-zone.

Liam Williams and Halfpenny seemed to get confused over who should play full back at the time.

Camille Lopez deftly chipped a ball over the line of red shirts and Remi Lamerat finished.
