FRANK LAMPARD will move for John Terry if Derby County captain Curtis Davies leaves this summer.
JT, 37, is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa last week following their failure to win promotion from the Championship.
Lampard was also busy himself as he penned a three-year deal to take charge of the Rams.
However, the Mirror say his predecessor Gary Rowett is already trying to bring Pride Park skipper Davies, 33, with him to Stoke.
The Potters are believed to have given him a large transfer budget in order to guide them immediately back to the top-flight.
Davies was an ever-present for Derby under Rowett last term and is the man he wants to marshal his new backline.
Naturally, Lampard and the Rams are loath to lose the experienced defender just a year after he joined from Hull City for £500,000.
But an offer of £3m could convince owner Mel Morris to cash in.

And that would then allow Lamps to fund a move for his old Blues buddy and captain Terry.
We reported claims at the weekend JT had already agreed to have another crack at the Championship.
LATEST TRANSFER NEWS
And Lampard threw the door open to a Rams reunion with the defender last week.
The 39-year-old said: “I had conversations with him this season about how he was getting on and about the Championship. He will definitely be there for me. We are close.”
Terry will be taking a significant pay cut on the £60,000-a-week he earned at Villa Park.
Derby’s top paid players are only on around half of that and chief Morris has confirmed he wants to cut costs.
He said: “It’s impossible to spend at the level we have year after year after year. Financial Fair Play is very real, we take it very seriously, and we’ve even been a big advocate of FFP.
“So it’s time to bring our house in order in that regard. But as Frank has said, it’s time to try to look at doing that while seeing if we can progress at the same time.”
