ALEXANDER ZVEREV reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final – and celebrated with his new best mate from Yorkshire.
Radio reporter Jonathan Pinfield has been a break-out star in Paris after Zverev took a liking to his accent.
Pinfield asked the German if he was falling in love with Roland Garros and vice versa.
And the No2 seed replied: “I hope so. I fall in love with your accent more every single day.
“That’s what I’m falling in love with.”
Zverev won his THIRD five-set match in a row, 4-6 7-6 2-6 6-3 6-3 against Russia’s Karen Khachanov, to reach the last eight.
Asked he was concerned about the effects of such long matches, Zverev said: “Mental, definitely not, because, you know, I’m in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam.
“If you’re mentally fatigued, then something is wrong with you.

“Physically, obviously it’s not easy to play, you know, back to back to back five-set matches, but I will manage it somehow.”
Zverev will play No7 seed Dominic Thiem in the last eight after the Austrian beat Kei Nishikori in four sets.
