The banned official apologised in a staement but still faces a disciplinary committee.
He said: “During the match Nantes-PSG I was knocked over by Diego Carlos, a player with Nantes. At the moment of impact I felt a sharp pain where I had recently suffered an injury.
“My unfortunate reaction was to stick my leg out towards the player. This clumsy gesture was inappropriate. So I want to apologise following this action.”
Nantes defender Diego Carlos was incredibly shown a second yellow by the Frenchman, 45, after the pair accidentally collided during yesterday’s 1-0 loss against Paris Saint-Germain.
The French Football Federation confirmed: “Mr Tony Chapron, initially appointed for the Angers-Troyes match, has been withdrawn for the 21st Ligue 1 fixture on Wednesday January 17 until further notice.
“Chapron will shortly meet with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) Disciplinary Committee.
“Chapron, after viewing the images, found that his fall had been caused unintentionally.

“As a result, he informed the DTA (Technical Direction of the Arbitration) that he has prepared a complementary report to this effect for the LFP Disciplinary Committee.”
French radio station RMC claim Chapron will request for Carlos’ second yellow card to be rescinded after acknowledging the pair tangled by accident.
Carlos could be cleared to play against Toulouse on Wednesday, according to the report.
Nantes were stunned to go down to ten men after the accidental collision as PSG held on top win 1-0.
