YOUNG French boxing world champion Angelique Duchemin has tragically died after suffering a heart attack in training.
The boxer, 26, was the world featherweight champion and died in the city of Perpignan, in southern France.
Duchemin suffered the cardiac arrest on Monday at her club in Thuir and was declared dead at hospital.
She was crowned European champion in December 2015, before becoming world champion this May.
France’s Duchemin was next due to fight and defend her title in October 2017.
Olympic champion Estelle Mossely took to Twitter to reveal her shock and sadness at the news.
Mossely tweeted: “I receive with sad the news of the death of Angelique Duchemin.
“We were together from the beginning. She was so young… my condolences to her family.”
