From a new Nissan Juke to a revamped Vanquish, this is what petrolheads have to get excited for in 2017

THIS coming year has a lot in store.

Donald Trump will start ruining the world, I’ll try (and fail) to lose half a stone and a load of famous folk will cark it, if 2016 is anything to go by.

But forget all that for now, because 2017 is going to be a stellar 12 months for motors.

Let’s celebrate still living in an age where we are the boss of our cars – and not the other way around – by taking a look at some of the motoring highlights due to come in the year ahead.

VW CC

If you like how the Passat drives but not the way it looks, then you’ll be excited by the return of the VW CC.

The four-door coupe will share the same platform and running gear as the Passat, but looks absolutely stunning.

A hybrid version is also expected.

Prices somewhere south of £30k.

Nissan Juke

This mega-seller is due its first update this year. The wheelbase will be extend­ed a bit, which will improve handling, and it will be stuffed to the gills with cool tech, including Apple CarPlay.

Expect it to cost around £16k.

The Juke is Richard Hammond’s most hated car – if that’s not a reason to buy one, I don’t know what is.

Peugeot 5008

If the new Peugeot 2008 is anything to go by, the 5008 is going to be a very fine car indeed.

The old 5008 came in MPV form but Peugeot has started again and made the latest version an out-and-out SUV.

It will have a similarly classy interior as the 2008, bulging with top tech.

Expect to pay around £25k, which is staggeringly good value.

Land Rover

The latest generation “Disco” aims to take the luxury levels up a notch or two.

When it arrives this spring, customers will be offered a highly capable off-roader with built-in wifi and nine – count ’em, nine – USB ports.

It will be around 500kg lighter, making it a peach to drive both off-road and on Tarmac. And it looks beautiful.

Expect to pay 40 grand and above.

Audi A6

Arriving in the middle of the year, the new A6 won’t look vastly different to the old model but is all-new under the skin.

At 100kg lighter and with a new range of engines, it will be nippier – and more efficient – than ever.

Audi says it will be a showcase for its autonomous driving tech, so expect city-crawl systems and other wizardry to save wear and tear on your limbs.

Prices will probably be just shy of 40k for the entry model.

Ford focus RS500

It’s hard to see how Ford can improve on the Focus RS but they aim to have a go in the form of the RS500.

It will keep the same 2.3-litre turbo engine found in the standard version, and it’s likely to be tuned up to around 380bhp.

Closer to 40 grand than 30. But probably worth every penny.

Adton Martin vantage

Aston’s revival under Andy Palmer continues. The DB11 is selling like £150,000 hotcakes, and next year we’ll get the DBX – its first SUV.

A new V8 Vantage will drop at the tail end of the year, sharing a lot of hardware with Mercedes cars.

The engine will be the 4-litre twin-turbo lump now in the AMG GT. It’ll cost around £90K though, so start saving.

Lexus LC

People love or loathe Lexus. I’m in the former camp.

And if the LC doesn’t persuade you the Japanese can knock out a sexy motor, you’ll never be converted.

A hybrid version will be available, but I’m more excited by the 5.0-litre V8.

It should be landing in the UK in the spring, but will cost a hefty 90 grand.
