Fulham desperate for investment but stars fear promises to back boss Slavisa Jokanovic will not be kept

FULHAM staff and players fear the club’s promises have not been kept – and that the Cottagers face another season of toil.

Former Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic steered the Craven Cottage outfit away from the Championship drop zone last term.

Jokanovic was given assurances of funds being made available for the rebuilding work and club skipper Scott Parker agrees is necessary.

Fulham released Dan Burn, Alexander Kacaniklic, Shaun Hutchinson and Jamie O’Hara after owner Shahid Khan publicly stated: “Slavisa will be given the green light to build a team capable of promotion.”

Jokanovic signalled last term he feels a major overhaul and recruitment drive was necessary if the club are to meet his ambitions of a genuone promotion challenge.

Parker said at the end of the season: “The football club needs to get a structure in place to get out of this league.

“We can’t keep making the same mistakes we have done over the last couple of years as life tells you that you end up getting the same result.

“We need to work out exactly what’s needed to get out of this division and go from there.”

But there is growing internal concern that the new campaign is in danger of falling apart before it even starts.

While the club’s scouting department have identified targets for all areas of the team, so far there have been no significant moves in the market, a situation made more critical with pre-season training due to start as soon as June 27.

Fulham have tried to persuade French striker Moussa Dembele – wanted by Turkish giants Galatasaray – to stay on improved terms but fear his head has been turned.

There are also worries from senior players that Khan may seek  to cash in on Scotland striker Ross McCormack if he receives a significant offer for the forward.
