Furious Sergio Garcia throws temper tantrum and hurts shoulder after slamming club into bush during Open second round

FURIOUS Sergio Garcia threw an almighty temper tantrum and then appeared to injure his shoulder after slamming his club into a bush.

The Masters champion was chipping from beside the gorse on the par-three fourth hole.

He had a limited backswing and could only advance the ball a few yards.

Clearly seething, the Spaniard then lashed out at the bush with his club, slamming it down with full force.

And it appeared he instantly regretted letting his blood boiling over because he grabbed his right shoulder in discomfort.

It was clear the twigs of the bush caught his club, probably catching the 37-year-old by surprise.

His shoulder looked to jar upon impact and the pain was so much that a physio was called out to see to the Spaniard – who was already wearing a plaster on his right index finger.

Luckily it seemed the damage did not deter Garcia too much because he made an eagle two on the next hole after driving just through the green – despite rubbing his shoulder walking off the tee.

And another silver lining for Garcia is that he is getting married next weekend.

He will tie the knot with American Angela Akins - but probably won't wear his Green Jacket at the ceremony.
