FUT Team of the Year 2016: Lionel Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo look to keep places ahead of Premier League stars


FIFA are set to announce their FIFPro World XI in Zurich on January 9.

And in parallel, EA Sport will be announcing the FIFA Ultimate Team Team of the Year throughout the week.

A host of Premier League stars will be hoping they’ve improved on last year when not one player from England’s top flight were selected in the video game’s best team of players.

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo formed a formidable strikeforce with Andres Iniesta, Paul Pogba (then of Juventus) and Luka Modric in midfield.

Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva and Dani Alves made up the defence with Manuel Neuer between the sticks.

FUT Team of the Year is one of the most exciting periods for gamers as some of the top players get boosted to their highest ratings of the year, with special blue In-Form Items released for the eleven players who make it into the team.

Fans of the game are able to join in the discussion on Facebook or Twitter and voice their own opinions via the hashtag #TOTY.

Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling have appeared in an EA Sports video to explain who they think should make the side.
