Gareth Bale spent 20 minutes with Liverpool stars rather than Real Madrid’s after Champions League heroics

GARETH BALE reportedly spent 20 minutes in Liverpool’s dressing-room rather than celebrate with his Real Madrid team-mates after the Champions League final.

The Welsh wonder came off the bench to score twice and seal a fourth Euro crown in five years with the La Liga giants.

But the Daily Mail state that he opted to go and see the likes of his old Southampton team-mate Adam Lallana in the wake of his exploits in Kiev.

Bale joined in the on-pitch celebrations but was one of the first Madrid stars to return to the locker room before heading to see his friends in the Liverpool squad.

That, coupled with images of him stood at the back of bus on the open-top parade the following day in the Spanish capital, highlight the 28-year-old’s frustration with life at the Bernabeu.

He was furious with Zinedine Zidane for dropping him for the showpiece after his explosive end to the season that produced five goals in his side’s final four matches.

But he took out his anger on Jurgen Klopp’s side within seconds of appearing from the bench, firstly bagging a magnificent bicycle kick before hammering home a second late on.

After the game he warned that he could quit the club if he is not assured of match action ahead of the new campaign.

DON’T BLOW MY CASH Jose warns board not to blow his budget on Bale

Bale is firmly a fan-favourite with the Madrid faithful again after his stunning cameo, but it looks increasingly likely that could be his last act in the Real shirt.

The ex-Tottenham attacker has a strained relationship with boss Zinedine Zidane, who could be tempted to offload the matchwinner and launch a swoop for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard or PSG’s Neymar instead.

Manchester United are keen on bring Bale back to the Premier League but would need to fork out around £200m in fees and wages to do so.

Although almost every European super club would be keen on Bale, there are only a limited amount that could afford to take him.

And Jose Mourinho has already warned United chief executive not to use any of his summer transfer kitty on securing the ace.
