GARY Lineker’s close relationship with ex-wife Danielle Bux which has even seen her move back into the home they once shared is a “Lineker thing”, according to his brother.
Wayne Lineker described the Match of the Day’s host close ties with his former partner Danielle as something that “runs in the family”.
Wayne, 55, who is now planning to marry model fiancée Danielle Sandhu, 25, told Mirror Online that he also keeps in contact with his ex-girlfriends.
The dad-of-four questioned why ex-partners should “hate each other”.
Welsh model Danielle, 38, moved to Los Angeles following her split from England legend Gary after six years.
Reports suggested she was keen to have more children while 56-year-old Gary felt he didn’t want to become a dad for a fifth time.
She is now expecting a baby with US lawyer Nate, with sources saying she is “thrilled and so excited”.
But she remains close to ex-England football star and is currently staying at the London home where they once lived.
Brother Wayne himself has been married before and has four children – Duane, 32, Sean, 29, Tia, 18, and 12-year-old Freddie.
He said that he keeps in contact with the mothers of his children because it's "important, especially if you have kids".
He said: “I think it is a Lineker thing. I keep in touch with all my exes."
Mirror Online reported that Wayne said he has never been happier since meeting Danielle, who is 30 years younger.
He hopes the family – including Gary – will be at the wedding in Ibiza in 2020.
Model Danielle and the Match of the Day host were spotted meeting up in London with her daughter and some friends for lunch just over a week ago, and the pair have been seen out together on several occasions since their divorce.
Gary is also said to be keen on her new partner US lawyer Nate Greenwald, 41, who Danielle met after moving in next door to him in Los Angeles.
And he was amongst the first to congratulate the couple on their pregnancy after she announced the news by posting a snap on her Instagram profile showing a clear baby bump.
He wrote: “Congratulations to you both.”
Gary Lineker, England's third highest ever goalscorer, sparked fury on Twitter in July after joking it was an “outrage” that his £1.8million BBC salary is less than Chris Evans’.
