Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers weighs in for BAMMA 33 fight with Karl Donaldson

AARON CHALMERS was all smiles ahead of his BAMMA 33 fight with Karl Donaldson – despite having to strip off for the scales in freezing Newcastle.

The reality TV and British MMA star fights on a hometown show on Friday night, looking for another KO win that could propel him into some high-profile clashes in 2018.

Chalmers wants a fight with UFC flop and WWE hero CM Punk – but there is uncertainty over his contract situation and future – or Baby Slice, the son of bare-knuckle legend Kimbo.

Speaking about Punk, the Toon hero said: “Apparently he’s still contracted to UFC.

“It’ll be interesting to see if he has another fight early in the year. If he doesn’t, I think Bellator might be looking to sign him. I’d love to do that fight later in the year.

“Baby Slice – Kimbo Slice’s son – I think would be a hellish fight. He’s had three fights and I’ll have had three. We’re both quite new to the game this year so it’s another fight that could make sense.”

Opponent Donaldson, 36, is a heavy-goods driver in South London by trade and is making a massive step up.

The veteran brawler accepted the fight on short notice without realising it would be on TV for millions of people to see – or knowing how little he would be paid.

He said: “When I was asked to fight I wasn’t told it would be on TV!

“It’s obviously better. I’m happy it’s going to be broadcast, but as to our end of the deal, it’s c**p.

“The deal I have now is 100 per cent rubbish. You would be shocked at it. If I told you, you’d be in tears!

“I’m going to try and get more money but I don’t want to lose the opportunity.

Handout

“Here’s the thing: I’ve had about four fights in the last five months – one was a stoppage and one was a knockout – but I was tired of knocking people out so in the last few fights I was working on my defence, not trying to knock the guy out.

“But they’ve seen that and were looking for someone who couldn’t punch so hard. And in those fights I wasn’t hitting hard.

“They’re judging me based on that. They don’t know I can hit so hard.

“I’m an aggressive fighter and I’m tough and I’m strong, so I’m going to go in there and let bombs off.

“I’m 100 per cent going to shock him.”
