Goose chased from baseball field flies straight into advertising hoarding

A LOOSE goose found Major League Baseball is not all it’s quacked up to be.

The winged wonder stole the limelight from Los Angeles Angels and the Detroit Tigers when it swooped in, evaded every attempt at capture – and finally smashed into advertising hoardings.

The moral of the story is unclear – but at least the Angels were not left with a huge bill as the bird was eventually rescued.

Mesmerised fans at Comerica Park initially thought there had been a change in the pecking order – when the goose arrived to take a gander around as players looked on.

It flew round the stadium like geese lightning a few times, faster even than Goose-ain Bolt.

The bird even grabbed a goosey bonus by stopping off at second base for a few seconds.

Then off it went again, although understandably it got a bit disoriented when staff tried to catch it.

In the end, the giddy goose flew full pelt into a video board.

But luckily there was a flappy ending.

Amazingly the bird seemed uninjured – certainly with no need to see a quack doctor.

And a fan went over to retrieve it, before handing it to Tigers employees.

A stadium worker then released it into the nearby park.

But it seems the incident was like water off a duck’s back for Angels manager Mike Scioscia.

ESPN report him as saying: “I had a duck as a pet growing up, and he was always running around when we were playing wiffle ball in the backyard.

“They’re a beautiful animal. It looked like me trying to get off the ground with the wings for a while. He had about six inches of altitude, but he finally got up.”

And Shohei Ohtani, who started for the Angels, said: “I thought the goose was kind of cute.”
