HANNAH COCKROFT is looking forward to the Paralympic Games next month and is aiming for three more golds to add to her impressive collection.
The wheelchair sprinter picked up two gold medals in London four years ago in the 100m and 200m T34 classification races.
Hurricane Hannah, as she has been nicknamed, looked back on her success in 2012 and admitted that things weren't quite the same now.
She said "Since London 2012, everything has changed. In London I raced the 100 and 200 metres. In Rio, I'll race the 100, 400 and 800 metres.
"A long session prior to London was six miles and a short session now is ten miles.
"I think you can't compare my lead up to London with my lead up to Rio because they've just been so different"
The Rio Games have recently been clouded by funding issues and Cockroft spoke of the problem Paralympians face as they get ready to compete at the showpiece event.
"I think people expect that we are on a level playing field with our Olympic counterparts. That's fantastic but it is still far from the reality.
"We don't really get the same financial backing that our top Olympic stars get."
Cockroft and the rest of Team GB is relying on the British public for support through a campaign known as Supercharge.
She added "It's fantastic how much people have supported it so far. It's great for Paralympics GB to be getting the British public involved again.
"So just donate that little bit of money to make sure that athlete has the equipment they need.
"We are really thankful to the British public for getting behind us and believing in our dreams."
And after claiming three gold medals in the IPC World Championships in Doha last year, Cockroft is likely to be yet another summer success story for Team GB.
